Making of 'In the sun' by she and him

Both of the media classes worked together to remake the music video of a song called ‘In the sun’ by She and Him. Our task was to copy the video exactly as it is. The female main role was played by Molly and Jade. The male main role was played by Jack and Me. The first bit when the Main male character is walking down the corridor was filmed in the geography block. Valeska and Lewis were filming the whole thing. Valeska was also in charge of editing. The most interesting experience was the bit with hoola-hoops. We had to find a way of filming this from a bird eyes view. We used a ladder for this. It was quite tricky but it worked in the end. We also had to synch the whole video perfectly with the original video. This was the hardest bit in the whole process. It was however good as we learned to be very precise. Unlike the videos we did in AS media, there were a lot of fast cuts in this video. The problems we have faced were also very much different. We have never came across lip singing in AS. We also never copied anything in AS whereas we had to produce a good copy of an already existing video this year. Josh has played the part where the guitar solo is played. This was also fairly difficult for him as he had to learn how to play this in the right tempo and time. I think the main mistake we have made during the production of this video was that some characters were played by various people. This especially includes the two main characters. This is a huge continuity issue and it can’t be repeated in the production of a real coursework project.

Lupe fiasco- words i never said

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22l1sf5JZD0

This video if of a narrative genre. The masks on peoples faces represent the words that were never said. The video talks about how government tries to control people all the time but they still rebel. The logo of the rebellion is the code on the bus at the beginning of the video. This and the masks are used to represent the video.

7)Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Between the preliminary task and our actual final piece I've mastered quite a few new skills when it comes to cameras, Imacs or internet. Our use of Imovie was also much better. The titles and music actually fitted the storyline unlike in our preliminary task. I have also used to do shot reverse shot technique and i improved in match on action greatly.

6)What have you learnt about technologiesfrom the process of constructing this product?

During the course of this project i have learned to use quite a few new tricks and got to now a few new technologies. A perfect example of this would be Mac's. I've never used one of the before this project, and for the past few months i got a chance to use it quite a lot as we had to do all of our editing.
I have also learned a few new tricks with the cameras such as 180 degree rule or worms eye rule etc. I have used a few new websites such as glogster or prezzie in order to make various posters or presentations for the class. Ive also used imovie and garage band forthe first time.
